Welcome to www.charleston-views.com. Charleston South Carolina is one of the great destinations on the East Coast. Visitors can enjoy the rich history and recreational opportunities.

The city dates back to the late 1600's and was a major port and trading center. During colonial times it faced attacks by the Spanish. Charleston had it's own tea party prior to the American Revolution when the colonists of Charleston confiscated the British Tea.

The American Civil War, or War Between the States, began with South Carolina seceeding from the union and bombarding Fort Sumter. The fort has been reconstructed and can be visited via a ferry.

The city has many beautiful buildings. Much of the construction was the result of rebuilding after a devastating earthquake in 1886.

Today Charleston has a welll established tourism industry.  One can tour museums and homes throughout the city. Many of the homes detail life in the Antebellum (pre Civil War) South. The Charleston Museum has a great collection detailing the life of the city. Across the bay, you will find Patriot's Point with a great collection of WWII ships and aircraft from WWII to the present.  Fort Moultrie, which played a part in the Civil War, is located a half hour away on Sullivan's Island.

Visitors can opt to stay in the city itself. You can find some less expensive chain hotels in North Charleston near the airport. If you are looking for a beachfront resort, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island is an excellent choice.

Please enjoy our site with information about Charleston and some unique photos of the area.
